A newspaper concept exploring “Skiing and Mountain Living through an Art Historical Framework”—A platform to share and discuss the design, art, architecture, fashion, and cinematography that make up the foundation of our culture.
Inspired in part by Art Critic/Philosopher Arther Danto’s definition of Art.
“Something is a work of art if and only if it has a subject (ii) about which it projects some attitude or point of view (has a style) (iii) by means of rhetorical ellipsis (usually metaphorical) which ellipsis engages audience participation in filling in what is missing, and (iv) where the work in question and the interpretations thereof require an art historical context.”
I hope that analyzing Skiing and Mountain Living through an Art Historical Framework will allow us to “fill in what’s missing” and push Skiing into the future.
