Post Archive Faction (PAF) is a Seoul-based label headed by Dongjoon Lim. A necessary follow for boundary-pushing technical garments. Collection 5.0+ was released on April 3rd mixing intricate patterned, technical jackets with unexpected fabrics such as seersucker and linen. I wanted to highlight some of their previous work when I first fell in love with PAF—taking foliage themes and applying them across outerwear, furniture, and typography.
Demon is my latest obsession and though the exact inspirations aren’t explicitly stated, this northern Italian footwear innovator feels distinctly ski-inspired. Maybe that’s just my lens but the ski boot-ness of the toe pieces and dramatic heels are hard to ignore. The attention to detail extends into a beautiful website with exquisite type via Pardoe Office.
Marte.Marte is a brother/architect group based out of Austria doing a number of interesting modernist projects in alpine environments. The House of Commerce is a counter-argument against standard hillside home tropes of terraced gardens and sweeping 360 views. It practices restraint in public and private spaces by implementing a simple 3 piece recipe that strengthens each ingredient—courtyard, chamber, and hillside. The open courtyard is dramatically juxtaposed against the private wood-clad interior leaving the hillside uncultivated and unmanicured.
Skiing had one of its yearly highlights. SLVSH is the greatest innovator of ski competitions of the last decade and SLVSH Cup Grandvalira in Andora is the crown jewel of the whole endeavor. An event that is both surprising and high-pressure while staying loose, fun, and authentic. No cheesy commentating, no corny brand partnerships, just 1v1 trick-for-trick exchanges. Anyone looking to understand the world of Skiing should start here. Congrats to Ferdinand Dahl and Max Moffatt for reaching the final.
